
Heat Pump Courses
Our heat pump courses are recognised by MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme).
Two heat pump courses are available:
• OFT21-504D - Design of Heat Pump Systems
• OFT21-504A - Installation, Commissioning and Servicing of Air Source Heat Pumps
Pre-requisites
In order to undertake OFT21-504D, candidates must already have:
• a current heating/plumbing qualification
• OR be registered with a body associated with heating and/or plumbing, e.g. Gas Safe Register, OFTEC, CORGI, NICEIC, NAPIT, HETAS, APHC etc.
• OR at least two years' on-job heat pump design experience.
In order to undertake OFT21-504A, candidates must already have:
• a current Water Regulations certificate
• AND a current Unvented Hot Water Systems certificate
• AND a current heating/plumbing qualification OR be registered with a body associated with heating and/or plumbing, e.g. Gas Safe Register, OFTEC, CORGI, NICEIC, NAPIT, HETAS, APHC etc. OR at least two years'
heating installation or maintenance experience.

Government Grant
For a limited time, government funding is available for the OFT21-504D and OFT21-504A courses when taken together. To be eligible, candidates must be registered with a competent persons scheme (e.g. one of those listed above) and be either a sole trader or work for a company that employs no more than 250 people, or be unemployed. Candidates and/or their companies should have received no more than £ 315,000 in government funding in the last three years.
£ 770 will be discounted from the total cost of both courses to eligible candidates, leaving an effective total cost of £ 154.
